Alexandria Hill

She/Her

Violin

Alexandria has been performing with 5th Wave since 2018.

Why I perform with 5th Wave:

I perform with 5th Wave because, like many modern day musicians, I strive to perform as wide an array of music as possible. I may not always get to do that in a traditional orchestra which means ensembles like 5th Wave are important to participate in!

About Alexandria

Alexandria Hill is a professional violinist based in the city of Chicago where she also received her masters in music at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Previously, Alexandria earned her bachelors of music from the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Alexandria is a current member of the Civic Orchestra as well as the Matt Jones Orchestra through which she has had the opportunity to perform at the Hollywood Bowl, Kennedy Center Stage, NPR Tiny Desk, and Chicago's Orchestra Hall. Her eclectic music background has given her the opportunity to share the stage not only with classical musicians like Yo-Yo Ma, but also with Hip-hop/R&B artists such as John Legend, Kanye West, PJ Morton, and Noname. Alexandria is also a co-founder of the not-for-profit baroque and early music ensemble, Ensemble Affect: Chicago’s only early music group dedicated to bringing historical music performance to diverse audiences free of charge.

As a black American musician, it is a strong belief of Alexandria’s that diversity in music can be broadened not only through performance, but education as well. Alexandria works with young music students around the city of Chicago in largely black and Latino communities with the hope to create diverse, generational wealth for the future of music.
