Allie Chambers
She/Her
Cello

Allie has performed with 5th Wave since 2018.

Why I play with 5th Wave:
It matters! Music composed by women and other underrepresented groups should get as much attention as the masters we are all familiar with: Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, etc.

I also love playing with 5th Wave because I know I will always be working with other musicians who care about gender equality in the arts as much as I do. When a group of musicians is truly passionate about the music and the cause, it makes the experience (we think) all the more powerful for the audience.
About Allison
Chicagoland native Allison Chambers fell in love with the cello at the age of nine. She enjoys an eclectic musical career of teaching, orchestral playing, and chamber music. Allison strives to be what Yo-Yo Ma describes as a “citizen musician” by serving the community through art and music. She is a passionate educator and teaches cellists of all ages. Allison is a former member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra, and presently performs with the South Bend Symphony and Illinois Symphony Orchestras. In addition to her work with 5th Wave, Allison has collaborated with artists and organizations including Storycatchers Theatre, Chicago Fringe Opera, Jetoj Music Series, and Kenny Loggins. She has spent her summers conducting a European concert tour with the Buffalo Grove High School Orchestras, performing with Chicago Summer Opera, and concertizing across wine country with Festival Napa Valley. Allison holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Elmhurst College and a master’s degree in cello performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. When she isn’t behind her cello, you can find her enjoying time with loved ones, exploring the outdoors, or curled up with a good book.
