About Rebecca
Rebecca is passionate about sharing music with others and about supporting the creativity of young musicians. She works as the Office Manager and Development Associate for the GRAMMY® Award-winning quartet Third Coast Percussion, and also performs regularly in the Chicagoland area. Dedicated to sustainable living, Rebecca is particularly fascinated with eco-centric music. An active chamber percussionist, she frequently collaborates with interdisciplinary percussion collaborative Beyond This Point, and is a member of classical chamber ensemble 5th Wave Collective, for whom she also serves as Marketing Director. When she isn’t playing or teaching music, she is most likely found hiking, biking, or curled up in the sun with a good book.
Rebecca grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, learning piano from her mom and Paul Simon tunes from her aunts and uncles. She attended Furman University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Environmental Sciences. After a year working in Furman’s Shi Center for Sustainability and teaching high school percussion, she moved to Columbia, MO, to pursue her Master of Music at the University of Missouri-Columbia, which she completed in 2017. Her teachers were Omar Carmenates, Megan Arns, and Brandon Robertson.
